In The Dark
In the rich loam on the Southern tip of Itsacon, a nocturnal Flange Serpent is drawn to the glow of an Orb Lantern. The serpent is a plant eater who grazes by moonlight, some can grow up to twelve meters in length.
The Lanterns are a remarkable act of Xenolympian nature. They are composed of the compacted waste product of the Seadancers, who feed on bioluminescent plankton. A few of these orbs are washed ashore onto the loam where they soak up the organic matter and break it down. The chemical reaction creates an intense light which can last up to three years.
Spent Orb Lanterns have have been found in structures on many parts of Xenolympus. Their beauty and apparent rareness must have made them valuable.
