Gentlemen Callers A school of male Seadancers swarm from the shadows of an empty metropolis. They rise to court the much larger and infinitely more graceful females of the species who linger above. The warm summer tides of the eastern ocean trigger this mating ritual, when the females release so much chemical signal into the water that the acidity level rises measurably. Some females have been seen with tendrils over a kilometer long. They migrate around the coastlines while clusters of males set up housekeeping in various reefs. The city is sprawling, jutting out from cliffsides and trenches of The Devil's Clawmark. It is home to hundreds of species of sealife that have adapted to indoor living. The architecture is so convoluted that it is still not known if this was the construction of an aquatic species or a sea base for land races. |
