The Solitude of Giants
Like some ancient, wind-driven sailing vessel, the cyclopean Saltcrawler cuts its course through the Sodium Dunes. These giant mollusks are the predominant fauna in the region, but much evidence clearly indicates that this was not always true. The Crawler's long spires are nearly unbreakable, suggesting that they were protective against some predator.
Punctuating the dunes are dead trunks of Uro Trees, some up to half a kilometer tall. Each tree found so far has been hollowed, its innards converted into a complex hive-like structure, but they are completely empty.
Whatever this other species was, they either became extinct or migrated elsewhere.
